With current plans for massively expanding renewable energy in Scotland, there will soon be surplus North of the border. England with it's much larger population needs this extra energy. Approval for a part undersea part on land cable has been approved. Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1) high-voltage subsea cable. The proposed wind farm in Scotland is also waiting approval and if it gets the go ahead, will be one of the largest in the world. Berwick Bank Wind Farm in the North Sea, south of Edinburgh.
