Brazil is a top 10 world oil producing state. Their oil production and exports are expanding. But, when it comes to gas, they don't produce enough for their own needs and demand is growing. They have been importing from Bolivia, but gas production in that country is reducing so quickly, at current rates of decline, they may run out this decade. Argentina on the other hand is looking to export from it's large gas fields. Trouble is how to get their gas to Brazil. Bolivia have proposed using their pipeline network, but the cost is too high for Brazil.
