There are many units for measuring the different forms of energy, or energy producing materials.
There are approximately 159 litres (42 US Gallons / 35 Imperial Gallons) in one oil barrel. This is an accurate conversion for most purposes.
For greater accuracy, you could use 158.987295 litres. At this level of accuracy, temperature and pressure need to be considered. Even the compressibility of the oil can differ and with pressure this can affect the volume.
The unit of electrical power. Electrical Current (Amps) multiplied by electrical voltage(Volts) (A x V)
Electrical consumption is measured in Kilo Watt hours (kWh) Which is the amount of power (watts) consumed in one hour.
Example 1:- If you had a 1 kW electrical heater on for one hour you would have consumed 1 kWh of electrical power. 1 Kw x 1 hour = 1kWh
Example 2:- If you had a 10 Watt LED light on for 10 hours a day for 30 days. 10 Watts = 0.01 Kw , Total time = 10 hours x 30 = 300 hours, 0.01 x 300 = 3 kWh
Electrical suppliers usually quote the price/cost for each kWh. Therefore, just multiply your kWh by the cost per kWh and you can work out how much an electrical appliance costs you over time.
Unit of energy.
